Life at LEAP Legal Software

At LEAP we believe it is not all about work. We have a very active social committee at each of our offices who organise a wide range of social activities such as pizza and beer nights, family picnics and the annual Christmas party.

Here are a few of our most recent events to give you a taste of life at LEAP.

Movember

Holy MO-ly! Each November the LEAP office gets a little hairy with LEAP MO Bro’s and Sisters taking part in Movember to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health. LEAP’s motivation is ‘To Make Mo Money…For Charity,’ and in 2012 we raised over $7,000!

V8 Race Day

Our latest team adventure was a day of fast cars. A group of about 20 staff headed out to Eastern Creek to get in touch with our revhead side.

All was going well with about 5 of us on the track when the red flag came out. There had been an accident. Slowly one by one the cars came in to pit lane so they could clear the track. Our headcount began - Bobbi - tick, Quang - tick, Chris C - tick, Stephen - tick, Christian Beck, CEO - ???? Word came that driver and instructor were ok but unfortunately the car was not. (see photos below for the damage).

Once the track was cleared and Christian was cleared of injury the racing began again. The rest of the day went without incident and I am sure all of us breathed a sigh of relief once our turn was over. A great day was had by all - well maybe not so great for Christian.....

VIC Office Fishing Day

Arriving at Mornington Pier at 6:45am, the weather was ideal for a day on the Bay and a spot of fishing. There was early sledging from within the Consulting team and everyone was keen to get the rods wet as we pulled away from the Pier. It didn't take long before there was a shout of "I'm on" from the Consulting Manager and whilst James pulled in the first of catch of the day, it was certainly nothing to write home about.

About 40 minutes in Barb's rod suddenly bowed and there was a loud "I got one"!! It didn't take too long for Barb to reel in an exceptionally good sized snapper that put all the boys to shame.

There were a few more near misses until David "Banjo" Hill hauled in a tiny banjo shark. Whilst it certainly looked good for the photo, it was another one destined to be returned to the sea. Barb got another big hit on the line and pulled in her second decent sized snapper. Jarrod also got hooked on something big but quickly got tangled in about 3 other people's lines. The guides seemed to believe that Jarrod managed to hook a stingray but they ended up having to cut the line.

Before we knew it, our 5 hour adventure on the Bay had come to an end and it was off to the local pub for a quiet beer and some tall tales about the one that got away...

Christmas Party

About 100 staff members from across Australia attended the 2009 LEAP Christmas Party, held at the Moonshadow Grille in Sydney. The night was filled with fun and frivolities - aside from the amazing food and great wine, other highlights included lucky door prizes, on-the-spot caricatures and an impromptu performance of Khe Sanh by one of our Melbourne Consultants.

QLD Boomerang Painting and Throwing Lessons

Our QLD branch decided to participate in something different and check out everyone's artistic talent so set off to Stradbroke Island for the day to learn how to paint and throw boomerangs. Some budding artists were revealed and we all proved that a boomerang does in fact come back!

Melbourne Cup

Giddy up fillies and stallions, it was time for the race that stops the nation in November! The LEAP Social Committee hosted lunch in the office with customary sweeps, hat parade and race on the big screen.

Ghost Tour

What better way to get ready for Halloween than to go on a Ghost Tour of Sydney's historic Rocks district. Ghost Host Richard enthralled us with spooky tales of intrigue and un-told treachery, while taking us to many hidden locations where the ghosts of the Rocks still lurk and linger.

Bowling Night

With End-of-Financial Year done and dusted, the staff from our Sydney office headed off for a night of ten-pin bowling at Darling Harbour. The night uncovered some previously untapped talent which may lead to LEAP joining a bowling league in the future!
